ABOUT THE GUIDE

Like most kids, I grew up fishing in farm ponds for bass and bluegill and could never get enough of it.  My first interest in walleye fishing was sparked in high school on a Canadian fishing trip.  After that, regular trips to Lake Erie finalized the addiction.  After moving to Kansas in 1987 courtesy of the U.S. Army (Ft. Riley),
I quickly learned that fishing for walleye in Kansas wasn't anything like fishing for walleye on Lake Erie.  Since then I have learned the ways of Kansas walleyes and the reservoirs they live in.
I have been fishing walleye tournaments now for twenty years and guiding for over ten years. In 2001, my partner and I won the Kansas Walleye Associations points championship. In 2006, I began fishing as a pro on the In-Fisherman’s Professional Walleye Trail (PWT). After three years on the PWT, I realized that my time and resources were stretched to the limit. So, I have reined things in a bit, I fish a little closer to home and fish local and regional tournaments when time allows.
Fishing on the pro circuit taught me a lot and it was a great experience. I have learned new techniques and new ways to think about catching fish. I have fished walleyes from Canada to New Mexico and everywhere in between. My goal is to pass some of that knowledge on to you, give me a call and let’s go fishing.

MY RIG

I have a 2009 Skeeter WX2100. It’s a 21 foot boat with a Yamaha 250 Four stroke outboard. It has a windshield and is very comfortable even on cold or windy days. The boat has plenty of room for up to four adults.

WHAT IS PROVIDED

All fishing equipment, bait and tackle is provided. All personal floatation gear is provided for adults (I have some children life jackets but I recommend you bring your own for your children because they should fit snug and mine may not fit your children properly). I will also provide fish cleaning services and bags for your fish, but you should bring a cooler and ice if you plan to take fish home.

WHAT TO BRING

You may bring your favorite rod if you like.  I recommend bringing a camera to capture the memories of this adventure.  Make sure you bring appropriate clothing and rain gear and if sunny, I highly recommend sunscreen.  You may also want to bring a lunch and or refreshments.  And last but least, a valid Kansas fishing license.
